Dear Sir,
It really does amaze me how kind people are when you ask for something to be donated.
I had an old set of golf clubs (really old) and I asked Ernie Wilson over at Woodham Golf Club if he had any old golf balls, flags and perhaps hole liners. I was wanting to put a little golf course on the lawn at Avon Court so the tenants could enjoy some fresh air, and gentle exercise. All good for keeping fit and active.
Ernie came up trumps for us – he donated some soft golf starter kits to us (see photo).
Linda, one of our tenants, completed the first five holes and the crazy putt game at the end.
I would really like to thank Ernie for his kindness and generosity in helping us achieve a lovely little extra on-site activity. Thank you, Ernie, from all at Avon Court.
Avon Court is a retirement living scheme in Newton Aycliffe, just off Burnhill Way, and was originally a British Legion Retirement Living Home, and is now run by Housing 21.
Going forward we are having a Summer Fair on the 12th August. Looking to raise money for – dare I say Christmas Party and Christmas shopping trip to York. Everything has to be planned so far in advance!
