I wish to express thanks on behalf of Soroptimist International, Durham members, through the Newton News, to all our very kind neighbours who responded to our plea and supported our recent home collection points for the ‘Feeding Families’ charity.
Over fifty large bags of food and toiletries filled a van when collected from a member’s home. This is the response received from Sarah McPhie, Feeding Families Fundraising & Communications Manager, who said “I wanted to reach out and thank you and all the members of Durham Soroptimists for your HUGE collection of food. I am sure you will have been told about the uplift in demand (52% from the same period last year) for emergency food provision, so collections like this are invaluable in helping us meet this demand.”
“We are now in Christmas mode running our two projects and getting ready for the big pack in December which will see us pack more than 8000 Christmas boxes.
