Greenfield Tennis Club is delighted to welcome increasing numbers of players aged between 4 and 16 years. The players are offered a quality tennis experience in small groups on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
The Club coaching programme also supports Young Sports Leaders to gain experience and confidence, working with small groups of players. Some leaders attend to assist as volunteers but some take the prospect of becoming a leader more seriously and work towards achieving coaching qualifications.
The club have been successful in recent years supporting youngsters achieving LTA Level 1 and Level 2 Awards. Aidan Robson has now achieved a Level 4 Award and is coaching full time tennis in Huddersfield.
Amber Dolby from Greenfield Community College has been leading tennis sessions since last November. Many young players appreciate her enthusiasm and commitment as they learn tennis and social skills.
Richie Howe attends Woodham Academy and has been leading regularly since last October. Richie has gained much experience in organising and coaching basic tennis skills with a pleasant and confident manner. Richie has established himself as a first class leader and has earned a position at Camp Cody in New Hampshire, USA. He will be in the USA for 3 weeks in July where he will work with American students in a range of activities.
Several other leaders have assisted in the past year from both schools in Newton Aycliffe and the support will continue in the future.
