The Sunderland Summer Splash Gala was held on the 8th/9th July. Nine Newton Aycliffe swimmers represented Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club, at Sunderland: (Top row, left to right) Katelyn Craig, Sophie Wilkinson, Niall Coulthard, Leah Smith, Kate Tolley (bottom row, left to right) George Wilkinson Kathryn Lee, Ethan Craig and Matthew Wimbury (not pictured).  This gala was another great success for the swimmers, collecting 7 golds, 1 sliver and 2 bronzes and all swimmers swam PB’s. Niall was the star of the weekend with 6 golds and a bronze, this followed his win of Best Sportsman in year 9 at Woodham Academy Sports Night. It was great preparation for Niall and Leah as they both compete at the nationals. it was also the first long course Gala for younger swimmers, Ethan, George and Matthew and all of them achieved amazing PB’s enjoying themselves thoroughly.
