Budding young Olympians are soon to be given the chance to enjoy taster triathlon sessions.
Youngsters, inspired by the Olympics and aged 12 years and over will be able to take part in the sessions being offered by Teesdale Leisure Centre, starting from Wednesday, 23 January.
Triathlon is a multi-discipline sport made up of swimming, cycling and running in one continuous race.
These sessions, run by Durham County Council and part funded by Sportivate, will both help to get children active and capitalise on the renewed interest in the sport, after Great Britain’s triathlon success at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Victoria Lee, adult healthy lifestyle co-ordinator, said: “This is a new and exciting opportunity for youngsters at Teesdale Leisure Centre.
“Come along and enjoy swimming, running and cycling and be part of this increasingly popular multi-discipline sport.”
The eight week programme commences on Wednesday, 23 January between 4.00pm and 5.15pm at Teesdale Leisure Centre, with a cost of £3.00 per person.
Booking is advisable due to the availability and popularity of the sessions. For more information or to book a place, contact Victoria Lee on 07584141202.
