Elizabeth Reeve from Lilburne Crescent and Darren Wilkinson from Woodham meet in the Leisure Centre Pool using swimming to improve their health.They both took up the Leisure Centre Big Swim Challenge last Saturday and came joint 1st, swimming 90 lengths.
Liz swims every day and has lost five stone in weight increasing her fitness and self confidence. “I am very proud of myself and my friend Darren. My 10 year old son took part and completed 59 lengths” said Liz.
In the last two years Darren has undergone two major operations having been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. “My surgeon encouraged me to swim and since going to the pool on a regular basis my fitness has improved tremendously. Swimming has been a great tool to aid my recovery” said Darren.
