The swimmers of Newton Aycliffe’s Sedgefield 75 swimming club took in their latest local competition when they headed to the Neptune Centre, home of Middlesbrough swimming club.
All six swimmers did themselves and the club proud and came away with at least one new personal best each. Zoe Hodgson had the most swims, with nine, her highlights being PB’s in 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle and a huge 15 seconds taken off her 400m freestyle best.
Jessica Bell got two out of two PB’s and medals with 50m butterfly and over two seconds off her 50m breaststroke, which brought her a bronze.
Mikey Riseborough swam four events which included a superb 20-second PB in 50m breaststroke.
Charlie McEwan swam four events, PB-ing in three of them, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle and over six seconds off his 200m freestyle best time.
Charlotte Lee swam all the breaststroke events and took home the bronze medal in the 200m event. She also took an impressive four seconds from her 100m freestyle PB.
Ruby Hancock swam two events and set new bests in both, two seconds over 50m backstroke and almost four seconds in 100m freestyle.
The swimmers at Sedgefield 75 have decided they would like to help with the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and will undertake a sponsored swim at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Monday, April 4th. If anyone would like to contribute to this fundraising, please get in touch on our Facebook pages. Money raised will be given to UNICEF for their Ukraine emergency funds.
