Stephenson Way Academy and Nursery School have declared a new member to the school.
This idea came from the school council when they asked our head teacher, Mrs Dodds, if we could have a school dog. She thought this was a wonderful idea and asked the Head of Tudhoe Learning Trust (Mr Smith) if this was okay. Mr Smith assured us that this was okay as the school he works in has a school dog too.
Fraser’s Role: At Stephenson Way our school dog is named Fraser! His roles in school are to listen to us read, Fraser loves this job because it shows how good SWANS are at reading. He also listens to our problems and helps us to open up. In KS1, if a pupil tries their best all week then their teacher picks them to take home one of Fraser’s suitcases, these include: a snuggly blanket, some hot chocolate mix, a reading diary and a book. When pupils have snuggled in with their book, parents take photos of the pupil or they can draw a picture of themselves reading.
Everyone here at Stephenson Way loves Fraser. He is definitely part of the SWANS family!
