It has been a very busy week at Sugar Hill Primary as we have been organising our school collection to add to a local collection for Ukrainian War Refugees.
Families have supported this cause by bringing into school items that have been checked and approved with the Ukrainian Embassy. Children across school have been talking with their teachers in an age/stage appropriate way about the war and how we can do our part to help and support people who have had to leave their homes.
We are working towards the Emotional Wellbeing Award in school and this week we have all been thinking about the emotional wellbeing of all the families in Ukraine and how we can show them our support.
Every night this week one of our parents, Mr Piotr Kornacki and his children Maya and Leo have collected items from school and taken them to the collection point at Hogg Global Logistics who are covering all the transport and customs paperwork.
Parents, carers and staff have donated duvets, blankets, sleeping bags, nappies, baby wipes, sanitary products, all types of medical equipment/over the counter medicines, paracetamol, bandages, plasters, Calpol etc. batteries and power banks.
On Wednesday 9th March children and staff came to school dressed in yellow and blue to show our support.
