Cruse Bereavement Support is busier than ever offering much-needed, specialist support to adults and children who have experienced bereavement at any stage in their life. It is currently offering exciting opportunities in various roles for people throughout the North East to volunteer for a few hours a month to support people in their community who are struggling to cope following their loss. Cruse supports people via telephone, online, or in-person (face-to-face).
All Cruse volunteers receive nationally recognised, high-quality training, regular supervision, and ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. The skills and knowledge gained are transferable, and committed volunteers value being part of the inclusive, friendly, and supportive Cruse community.
“I feel part of a caring community. Supporting people to understand and come to terms with their grief is rewarding and enjoyable. It makes volunteering so worthwhile.”
Cruse is looking to recruit
– good listeners / empathetic people who are willing to learn, to train to become a Bereavement Volunteer undertaking direct work with clients.
– people with relevant skills and experience to train to become a Cruse supervisor, to provide group and occasional 1-1 supervision to our Bereavement Volunteers.
– experienced and trained supervisors – with at least two years of recent supervisory practice in a related setting (counselling, social work / social care, mediation, probation, etc.), an appropriate supervisor qualification and experience of direct work with clients – to complete a short induction to the work of Cruse and then run group supervision sessions for our Bereavement Volunteers.
