New community group “Friends of West Park” continues to fire public imagination and enthusiasm from Newtonians as the group launched with a photo shoot in the popular park.
Newtonians braved a chilly morning to come along to promote the park and the group, to get a warm welcome from ducks, geese and swans hoping for a tasty morsel.
With the inaugural meeting to be held at the Royal Navy Club on Tuesday 18th February at 7pm suggestions are flooding in. Ken Robson who is spearheading the new group commented that ideas are coming forward from the facebook page “Friends of West Park” inviting the inclusion of schools in the project.
Recruitment for the group is expected to continue throughout the year as the group made up of residents from across the Great Aycliffe parish begin to plan projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the community and leave a legacy for future generations.
With the biggest industrial park in the county located in Newton Aycliffe it is hoped that perhaps businesses may also wish to collaborate.
This is a friendly group who welcome anyone to join regardless of circumstances so why not come along, meet new friends and give the benefit of your knowledge and expertise for the benefit of all.
