This summer has been a very busy one for us at the Arts Centre – we’ve had many free activities for children and young people throughout the six weeks. Sessions included Crazy Crafts and Arty Clarty where we created a variety of arts and crafts products – including some fantastic sculptures on display at the moment, which were inspired by a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Some current and new Greenfield students were involved in a week of film making. Working with a professional film maker and a drama teacher to make two films; these films will be shown as part of our AAP Film Festival in October Half term.
We also hosted our very own Alternative Olympics, involving activities such as speed stacking cups, flag making and relay races. Over three days the young people involved got the chance to be creative, messy and work as a team. This was a great collaboration between the Arts Centre and the Community Sports Team!
In all over 300 children, young people and their families were involved in our busy summer programme, and every one had a great time, gaining confidence, learning new skills and being inspired.
At the Arts Centre we have a whole programme of activities you can get involved in after school, during Family Learning Month in October and during the holidays – if you want to know more come and see us. Or, you can contact us on 01325 379048 or visit our website www.greenfield-arts.co.uk
