Athletes from Newton Aycliffe gym CrossFit All Out were back on the competition field at the “Glacier Games” at Gateshead stadium last weekend, a bi-annual strength and fitness competition organised by CrossFit Glacier. The competition was for teams of 4, 2 male, 2 female and CrossFit All Out had a total of 4 teams and plenty of supporters attending on the day:
TEAM ‘ALL OUT OF IDEAS’ – Chris Knight, Rachel Burnip, Gemma Whittle and Colin Wooster.
“We qualified 19th and finished 11th, managing a 2nd place in WOD 2. We all had a great day!”
TEAM ‘ALL THE WHEY’ – Carol Mohan, Bex Shaw, Matthew Taylor & Paul Hilder.
“We hoped to finish higher than our qualifying position but placed exactly the same, after having the best day amongst some tremendous competitors – even better to do it with so many teams from CrossFit All Out, all pushing and supporting each other throughout. Looking forward to the next lot of sweat, blood and tears!”
TEAM ‘RX7’ – Sophie Moffatt, Janet Roote, Allen McGee and Jonny Griffith.
“We qualified at the bottom of the scaled 1 division and ended up 22nd on the day, so moved a few places up, but we were all just pleased to have made the final after completing the 3 qualifying workouts! We had so much fun on the day and that was the aim, just to enjoy ourselves which we definitely did. We all came away with new goals, areas to work on and were really proud of ourselves and each other! Great support from the All Out crew and great support from our team mates.”
CrossFit All Out owner and Head Coach Terry Anderson said “it’s great when competitions like this are held locally and our athletes love getting involved and pushing themselves outside of their comfort zone. The support for each other is fantastic and as their Coach it is great to see them give it their all and do so well. They all work really hard for their achievements and are inspiring others to challenge themselves too, so should be very proud of themselves.”
