Woodham Academy students have taken part in two visits to the Nissan plant in Sunderland to learn about career opportunities in engineering.
The first trip was for girls, to encourage them to consider careers in engineering and manufacturing, providing them the opportunity to speak with female Nissan employees. This was followed up with a trip from the school’s More Able Academy, with students enjoying a tour of the plant and seeing cars including the popular Quashqai in production. Students took part in a range of activities across both trips.
Headteacher Christine Forsyth said: “Woodham Academy is committed to providing our students with extensive careers support and guidance and as many opportunities as possible to explore the full range of career paths available to them, raise aspirations, and equip them to make informed decisions about their lives after leaving our school.
“We are proud that the proportion of our students who continue in education, employment, and training is above the County Durham average.”
