Students at Greenfield Community College have been looking to the future as they were given the opportunity to enjoy an amazing live performance as part of the ‘Jabberwocky Market’ Festival, a pop-up theatre festival produced by Luxi Creative.
‘Ground Control’ is a space-age production where the audience is in charge and they are asked to decide the future of a new planet. The ground-breaking show was offered to Year 7 at Greenfield’s Shildon site, as well as to the public who came to the school. The students were keen to take part and help change the planet.
The story starts in 1974 and a manned mission has been sent into space to look for inhabitable planets. Fast forward to present day and three astronauts are about to be woken from hypersleep – they need help.
The show is strictly for children only and the reaction of the students was … Katy Milne, Director of Arts and Creativity was ‘over the moon’ with the way the students engaged, coming up with fabulous ideas of how to interact with space and place.
The performance by ‘One Zero One’ was a high-tech interactive production, fast-moving with amazing visual effects. The show is part of a bigger event led by Luxi Creative who specialise in pop-up theatre events in the area and promote and present arts and theatre around the world.
