Student Leaders at Greenfield Community College have been sharing valuable ideas recently at a regional conference. The leadership team were invited to give a presentation at Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College (FBEC) where they attended alongside six other regional schools.
The young people had the opportunity to find out how other student leadership groups operate, sharing different models and ways of working and gaining valuable insight which will help further their development.
Student Leaders from each group were keen to communicate their ideas and practice with enthusiasm and clarity. Greenfield students displayed a growing confidence and were able represent their school with an excellent presentation outlining their recent accomplishments and ongoing priorities. The group were especially eager to highlight the work they have done to help bring the school together as one, working closely with students and staff from both sites to reach common goals.
The students have been working with Unfolding Theatre which began with a fabulous live performance entitled “The Best in the World” which encourages young people to be the ‘best that they can be’. The group have focused on this idea leading assemblies, participating in staff training and more recently contributing to the publication of a book compiled by Greenfield students. The book “From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary” is part of a campaign to bring about positive change and is a credit to all of those involved.
Katy Milne, Director of Arts & Creativity at Greenfield Arts has been working closely with the group and is thrilled with their achievements, “This was a great opportunity for the students to reflect upon the positive changes they have made, particularly in their recent work which has strengthened us all working together as one school. Thank you to FBEC students for organising this. It was a powerful day of young people working together and exploring ideas.”
