For the past 5 weeks a group of Year 6 students from Chilton Primary School have been busy with Greenfield College’s Technology department – visiting the specialist classrooms at Greenfield each week for an afternoon as part of the new curriculum in technology.
The group of students have been creating healthy home made “fast food” with our food technology specialist Emma Curran, making their own versions of chicken goujons and burgers amongst other things. The children have really enjoyed their time at Greenfield, and despite being sceptical at first they loved their healthy food! Many of them have been practising the recipes at home.
After their food sessions the group have been working with textile specialist and subject leader, Janet Ward, using smart materials and textile processes to make creatures of the rainforest.
We are now looking forward to welcoming a Year 5 group from Chilton to the Technology department this week, as part of a larger programme of activity Greenfield is delivering to support local primary schools.
