Modern Foreign Language Students at Woodham Academy have been enjoying special language events to celebrate the European Day of Languages.
There was a poster competition for Year 7 students whilst Year 8 students took part in a spelling competition and won croissants as prizes. Year 9 students participated in a Eurovision Song Contest and Year 10/11 students were faced with the challenge of identifying the photos of famous Europeans.
The European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001 on 26 September, as an initiative of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The European Day of Languages (EDL) aims to celebrate, by showing people across Europe, how important languages are, and what fun can be had learning them.
