The future NHS could be in the hands of a number of inspired Woodham Academy students after they recently took part in a Medical Careers day. Year 10 and 11 students spent the day at New College Durham learning about the medical profession and what it takes to become a doctor.
Throughout the day, students took part in workshops including how to conduct CPR, how to deal with someone who is choking and how to diagnose an illness. Current Health and Social Care students from the college gave the young visitors a presentation on what their training is like and how their careers will progress after training. The day was an opportunity for Woodham Academy students to understand the process of a career in the health sector and to consider options for further education.
