Student Edward Carr from Heighington is taking on the World Challenge, hoping to spend one month in the Malaysian jungle next July where he will becompleting environmental projects to help the local people.
He has been tasked to raise the £4000 fare and this week was on a 100 mile fundraising walk from Lindisfarne to Durham Cathedral.
To make it even more difficult he carried an empty coffin to mimic the passage of the remains St Cuthbert along a similar route. Earlier in the year he wrote an article for St Michael’s Church parish magazine and as a result received donations and odd jobs such as car washing and gardening for local people on a weekly basis. He is particularly thankful for people’s generosity and support.
Edward is a member of the CCF Navy Cadets and sails every week. He has almost completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver award and is a Senior Scout at Heighington and a bellringer at St. Michael’s Church.
