Fresh from wowing audiences at Durham’s Gala Theatre, Woodham Academy’s dance students will showcase their talents in school this month.
Woodham Dance Academy students will be performing in school on Tuesday, March 27 at 7pm. The Dance Showcase will feature a full programme of 23 pieces, ranging from solos to group performances by all Dance Academy students.
The event follows the students’ recent success performing at the Feet First Showcase at the Gala Theatre in Durham. Woodham Academy students performed two pieces at the theatre, the first an explosion of colour and creativity and featuring all dance students.
This was followed by a second piece inspired by a speech made by singer Pink, and choreographed by Kay Clarey of Joanne Banks Dancers.
Teacher Hannah Kent, who leads Woodham Dance Academy, said: “The performances at the Gala Theatre were empowering, inspiring, and truly out of this world. Our students are performing complex pieces in a range of styles and they are doing so brilliantly. The hard work of our students and staff is really paying off, and we are all looking forward to the Dance Showcase.
“We thank everyone for their ongoing support for dance at Woodham Academy, and we hope to see as many of you as possible on March 27 – we are sure you’ll all be impressed with what our talented, dedicated, students have in store.”
The Dance Showcase will also include a special performance from former student and phenomenal dancer Lisa Robinson. Lisa will join students Georgia Thelwell and Sydney Etherington, who are raising funds to enable them to travel to Disneyland Paris after they were selected to perform there on the main stage.
The Dance Academy’s busy month will also include a visit to Halifax to compete in the prestigious Great Big Dance Off, at the Victoria Theatre on March 19th.
Tickets for the Dance Showcase, priced £3 & £2 concessions, are available via Parent Pay and the school office on 01325 300328.
