Dear Sir,
Storm Arwen struck in late November 2021, which seems a while ago, yet Livin tenants are STILL trying to have things returned to normal right now, 2 years and 2 months later. During the storm a street lamp was blown down, I must stress that this street lamp is the responsibility of Livin due to the fact that it was erected after the completion of the new homes in Cargill Close and it is a solar powered street lamp.
Since then, the lamp standard itself has been replaced but, it seems that was the easy part of the exercise. Livin have made numerous attempts at powering the light up but each time it works for a few days and then goes off again.
I have been in touch with Livin so many times regarding the lamp that I cannot remember the exact number but it must exceed 20.
The excuses I have been given are many, eg: Tolent the builders have gone out of business; parts are not available; the module inside the lamp is faulty; the trees are stopping it working (even though at that time there were no leaves on the trees), the list goes on and on.
All I can say is that, contrary to all we are told, solar power doesn’t work, even though it worked alright before storm Arwen. Or is it that the older people in Cargill Close, some of whom are disabled, are being fobbed off by Livin and are not one of their priorities?
Derick Sutton
