Star Radio is proud to support The Wellbeing for Life Service which is a FREE service supporting you to live well in County Durham. They work with anyone aged 16 and above, and offer both group activities and one-toone appointments for people who live and work in County Durham. Wes Stakes, Star Radio’s Breakfast Presenter, has been having fun taking part in some of the sessions this week in Newton Aycliffe. Your local South West Durham Wellbeing for Life service is based at the Pioneering Care Centre, Newton Aycliffe. There you will find a team of Health Trainers, Wellbeing Development Officers, Community Development Workers and Volunteer and Skills Coordinators who are ready to support you to live well and get involved in your local community. From New Age Kurling to village walks, practical cooking classes to knit and natter sessions – there’s a whole lot on offer, and they can support new groups if you can’t find something that
suits you! Check out ‘What’s On’ at the events section on  www. wellbeingforlife.net or tune into Star Radio on 102-107 FM. One of their most successful activities was a FREE Healthy Living Course which was delivered at Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre, where 21 local people learnt about healthy eating, food labels, making food swaps and savvy shopping. The social aspect of the group boosted people’s confidence and selfesteem. They got so much more from the course than they expected and everyone strongly recommended it. One of the clients said… “It is such a great service that my Health Trainer came with me to Tesco and helped me swap the foods I would usually buy for healthier options. I had seen the traffic light system in the leaflets, but she brought it to life.” If you would like to try something new and make the most of your chance to meet new people and improve your wellbeing for a happier and healthier life.
