UKRD has today announced that it has reached agreement with the View TV Group to sell them Star Radio North East, thus ensuring that its future is secured.
On Monday of this week, UKRD announced that it was preparing to close the station within days. This resulted in a number of people making contact to discuss the sale.
The team from View TV have burned the midnight oil to get this done and we are delighted that a deal has been secured to save your local radio station.”
A Partnership between The View TV Group and Radio operator Darren Shortt, has been created to ensure the future of the station, and they took control of the operation as of the 31st March.
The new owners, Darren Shortt and Jamie Branson, both have expressed their delight at having the opportunity to run the operation and View TV Group Chairman Jamie Branson, said that he was looking forward to working with the team to secure the stations future.
“It’s exciting times ahead for the existing team and the local area, as we look forward to a successful future” said Mr Branson.
Darren Shortt added “We look forward to creating some amazing radio, and bringing the area a fun and informative station the region can be very proud of. ”
