Students at Greenfield Community College gave a fabulous performance at their annual production last week and were rewarded with a standing ovation as they wowed the audience.
This year the cast of talented young people produced a brilliant interpretation of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s ‘School of Rock’, a production which showcased the range of exceptional talent at Greenfield and got the audience on their feet.
After the resounding success of last year’s ‘We Will Rock You’ staff and students knew they had a big act to follow this year. Casting, auditions and rehearsals all began very early in the year and everyone involved has shown an impressive commitment in their approach to give their very best. The results said it all.
The show ran over three days with over 600 people coming through the doors to enjoy the lively performance with students excelling in drama, music and dance. Subject Leader Ali Dixon and Amy Robson were thrilled with the achievements.
Congratulations should also go to all of those behind the scenes who made a helped make the show happen. Former students were also brought into the fold and made a brilliant job of working with sound and lighting with a professionalism which made great use of Greenfield’s brand new equipment, a worthwhile investment helping the department go from strength to strength.
The music was provided by the students themselves led by talented musician and teacher John Gomez, keeping a tight ship and bringing the best out of the band.
The show is a special part of the school year that brings opportunities to shine and be a part of a big event. Well done to everyone involved, we are already looking forward to next year’s production. Greenfield Community College is a specialist Arts and Science School and is committed to raise aspirations by providing opportunities for their students to excel.
