September, will be the 15th Anniversary of Stagecoach Theatre Arts’ appearance in the greater Tees Valley region. Multi-award winning Stagecoach, the launch pad of Jamie Bell and Zoe Birkett started out in Yarm quickly expanding into Darlington, Northallerton and Hartlepool, followed by Middlesbrough, Guisborough and finally Bishop Auckland.
During that time, thousands of local children including many from Newton Aycliffe have benefited from the improvement in confidence and social skills that a Stagecoach education brings.
`That is certainly something to celebrate` said Trudy Hindmarsh, principal of Stagecoach Yarm and Darlington, and the first person to open a Stagecoach franchise in the region.
Children have had many local performance opportunities, so it is fitting that Stagecoach has chosen to celebrate its 15th Anniversary by staging its own ‘Anniversary Showcase’ productions in its own well-loved local theatre Darlington Civic, on Sat 8th and Sun 9th September.
Two matinee and two night performances will be staged featuring all 400 students from Stagecoach Yarm, Darlington, Bishop Auckland and Northallerton. The performers are aged from 4 to 19 years, showcasing the best of Musical Theatre, in a variety format.
The general public are welcome to join Stagecoach friends and family in the audience. Tickets are on sale from the Civic Theatre box office on 01325 486555, priced £13.
“Seeing a show would be a great opportunity for parents who have been considering a Stagecoach education for their children”, said Trudy. “It would allow their child to see what they might be able to achieve if they came to classes and it would demonstrate the range and quality of what we can offer to our students” Trudy added.
Anyone buying tickets to see a show and subsequently enrolling into Stagecoach classes can claim back £3, for every ticket bought, as a reduction against their first term`s fees (up to a maximum of 6 tickets) – upon production of their ticket stubs to the principal of the school that they choose to attend
All of the schools taking part in the shows have future plans for other exciting performance opportunities. Ring your local school to find out what they are. Trudy (principal of Darlington and Yarm) on 01325 337667 or 07736 164616. Kate (principal of Bishop Auckland) on 01388 664066 or 07912 891934
