On Friday, 6th December the Mini Vinnes from St. Mary’s Primary School in Newton Aycliffe were invited to help at the Annual Parish SVP Christmas Party, where our housebound parishioners are invited to come and have a buffet. The children were presented with their badges from the adult SVP.
Our school Christmas choir also helped at the event too, by singing some of their favourite Carols.
There was lots of singing and clapping going on. The Mini Vinnies really enjoyed chatting to everyone and the parishioners really enjoyed seeing the children’s smiling faces.
Afterwards the children all received a drink and got a Christmas booklet and a cracker to bring back to school.
Our Mini Vinnies have been working this term with the ‘help the homeless project’, based in the Blackfriars’s Centre in Newcastle by collecting a range of items.
On Friday, 13th December Emma Bell, from the centre, and Michael Wilcock, from the Diocesan Mini Vinnies project, came to collect our donations. They were overwhelmed by the amount of hats, scarves, gloves, socks, deodorants and pot noodles.
2019 has been a busy year for our Mini Vinnies. The children are already looking forward to their next challenges in 2020!
