POP UK is a Christian based charity that encourages singing within schools and educates children about moral, spiritual and cultural issues through song. They teach the children the songs in a week and record the CD, then the week after invite all the parents to a special Concert to celebrate the children’s achievements.
St. Joseph’s School took part, holding rehearsals in the hall and performing a concert at Greenfield College which attracted a large audience of parents and relatives.
Hayden-Lee age 9 said “It was fantastic, the best bit was the ‘having fun song’. It was quite freaky having to sing in front of all of those people, but it was really good, I felt like a pop star!
Jakub age 10.5: ”It was good, I got a little bit embarrassed but it was great fun, I was bouncing up and down to the music. My favourite bit was the ‘having fun’ song. At the end the parents made us do an encore and they all got up to dance.
Roksana age 10: “It was really good; the best bit was when we sang ‘the sun goes down’. I was really excited to make a CD. I have listened to it lots.
Abbie age 8 “My favourite song was ‘the sun comes up’ because it had a really cool dance routine. I think it was really cool that we made a CD just like a pop star. I listen to the CD every morning in the car and it makes me feel really happy.”
