In the South West Durham Netball Tournament, the Year 7 & Year 8 teams from St John’s School & Sixth Form College of Bishop Auckland performed extremely well in order to achieve silver medal place. St. John’s receive Catholic students from Great Aycliffe.
Year 8 in particular played a nail biting semi-final against Teasdale which went to extra time due to a tie at the full time whistle. The girls remained calm and worked together as a team to score the first goal which enabled them to qualify for the final against Greenfield. Year 8 were unbeaten last season but unfortunately a very challenging final against Greenfield resulted in second place.
Year 7 have gone from strength to strength throughout the netball season and played within the true spirit of the game showing improvement in their skills throughout the tournament in order to win silver medal place.
“I extremely proud of the Netball success that St John’s has shown throughout the year, all the girls are very committed to practice and thrive throughout the league games and tournaments held. I have high hopes for the girls for next year’s season.” Miss Preston
