For the last week of school, the staff and children of St. Francis’ Junior School were busy making their Christingles. They learnt what each part of the Christingle stood for.
• An orange, representing the world.
• A candle pushed into the centre of the orange, then lit, representing Jesus Christ as the Light of the World.
• A red ribbon wrapped around the orange or a paper frill around the candle, representing the blood of Christ.
• Cocktail sticks pushed into the orange, a symbol of the seasons.
• Dried fruits or sweets skewered onto the cocktail sticks, representing the fruits of the earth.
We then headed to St. Clare’s Church for our annual Christingle Service. We spent time learning more about the Christingle, and Reverend Jeff was made into a Christingle himself. We really enjoy our time at St Clare’s Church, and we know it wouldn’t be the same without so many parents, carers, friends and families joining and supporting us.
Thank you to everyone who joined us.
It was lovely for the children and staff from Horndale, to celebrate with us also, making the service even more special.
