The information below shows part of the application that the school completed.
“In September 2017, we put physical activity at the heart of our whole school community and what a difference it made! We started an innovative new initiative called ‘Team Up’ which engaged and inspired our whole staff to become more active, improve their wellbeing and encouraged them to be role models for the children, resulting in 100% of all staff and pupils taking part in a minimum of 60 minutes of structured physical activity daily”.
Examples of activities included: daily mile, fit for life, playground leaders, pedometer challenges, disco lunchtimes and active curriculum.
Children and staff influenced the continually adapting a vibrant programme. Our aim was to foster the habit of leading an active lifestyle that will remain with ALL our children and staff for life. Many parents commented on the changes they have seen eg choosing to be active over computer games or joining a local sports clubs.
Our whole schools dedication and positive attitude to improving physical activity levels has impacted massively on the social interaction and relationships formed across the school and has created motivation and enthusiasm to lead active lifestyles together.
Other achievements:
• 100% of children take part in 2 hours of high quality PE per week.
• 100% of all pupils have taken part in at least 5 intra-school competitions.
• 100% of all pupils have attended least one inter-school competition.
• We have competed at the County School Games.
• We have achieved the ‘GOLD School Games Mark’.
• We were one of the first schools locally to achieve Active 30.
The school would like to thank Mrs Plumb for all her hard work in making all of this happen.
