Tonight 1 in 8 children will go to bed hungry – but there is enough food for all to eat and have their fill if changes are made. This is an upsetting but true statistic. Christian Aid is an organisation which has a global vision to end poverty.
For years they have relied on hundreds of volunteers delivering and collecting those distinctive red envelopes, and although this will still be happening in some parts of town, fewer volunteers with less spare time has meant a need to try something different.
This year on MONDAY 13th MAY ‘SHINE’ the Church and Community Children’s Choir along with Parish Youth will be hosting ‘SING AID’ – a sponsored event!
The choir will be singing for a full hour 4.45-5.45pm in St. Clare’s Main Hall and serving cups of tea and coffee and cake @ £1 with all proceeds to Christian Aid.
Please come along and join in with the singing and fundraising. The choir will be singing a selection of songs they have learnt over the last year and a special song for Christian Aid called ‘Make Someone Happy’. We encourage everyone to come along and play a part in ending global poverty.
Entry is free and you can sponsor the choir on the night, or by phoning Helen McCormick on 319002
