Are you a female carer living in County Durham? ‘Sound Out!’ is a free music project with Jack Drum Arts to support females who provide unpaid support for a friend or family member who needs help due to age, illness, disability, poor mental health or an addiction. Group music-making has been proved to reduce stress, improve mood and boost the immune system. The ‘Sound Out!’ project puts women and girls with caring responsibilities front and centre, offering them opportunities for fun, creative expression and self discovery through music making. It has a range of different groups for females to enjoy; including world drumming, song writing and collective musicmaking.
The sessions are on various dates in a range of venues in County Durham, including the Pioneering Care Partnership in Newton Aycliffe, which will hold the Community Singing group starting Wednesday 6th November from 3pm – 5pm. Carers can join in creating a brand new singing collective to learn basic technique, rhythm and harmony to sing arrangements in different styles and genres. For more information about the project, or to book a place call Jack Drum Arts on 01388 765002 or email soundout@jackdrum.co.uk
