Just before Christmas around 25 people, including local residents and councillors attended a consultation on a proposed solar farm near School Aycliffe.
Responses from those attending were over-whelmingly positive with people highlighting the ease with which the site can be screened and that it is sited on poor-quality land.
The company, Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited, from London are currently tweaking the proposals to take into account people’s comments from the community consultation evening and will be providing a project update pack to councillors and local residents once these are finalised.
Solar Farms are only temporary use of land and cause no harm or risks to flooding.
The wide gaps between the rows of panels are designed to accommodate grazing of small livestock.
The company will be trying to use as many local contractors as possible in the installation of the farm. Anyone wanting be involved is invited to get in touch.
If the project goes ahead and is approved the installation of the farm will take two months. Further information on www.lightsource-re.co.uk
