Greenfield Arts are offering three drawing workshops inspired by their latest exhibition ‘Norman Cornish: A Man of Destiny’. The workshops will offer the opportunity to explore sketching skills and to notice the ‘extraordinary in the everyday’. Cornish is renowned for his wonderful sketch books, depicting his unique style and offering an insight into the techniques behind his artwork.
The sessions will run on Thursday 14th, 21st and 28th November, led by artist Graham Stead and the cost is just £35. The exhibition runs until Wednesday 11th December in The Greenfield Gallery and has already attracted over 900 visitors!
The sessions form part of a full programme of events inspired by the Cornish exhibition and centenary. Artist in residence Tony Gadd is currently working with Year 10 students from Greenfield Community College to creatively respond to the exhibition. The students have been inspired by Norman’s creative process of sketching, resketching and developing an image. “The young people are responding to the exhibition and exploring their own creative process through their writing with spoken work artist Tony Gadd and through the process of sketching with artist Richard Bliss. They have really thought deeply about an artist’s practice and are responding with really exciting ideas” said Katy Milne, Creative Director of Greenfield Arts.
