Spectrum Roller Skaters have had a busy month of fundraising in total raising £337.07 towards transport to competition.
Skaters and families organised a guess the ‘skater’ doll which raised £75, sold knitted items for £17, held an Easter Hamper Raffle which made £150 and did a demonstration at Bishop Auckland Newgate Centre as part of their Easter Eggstravaganza with a bucket collection which made £95.07.
The club are very grateful for the support from local people. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed. We are always looking for opportunities to demonstrate our sport and fundraise. If anyone can help us with sponsorship or support please get in touch.
The squad skaters have spent their Easter training and are taking part in an Easter Roller Boot Camp for four hours this Thursday.
The team of 10 skaters are travelling to Kettering this weekend to their first ever National Figure & Free Competition. The squad comprises of skaters aged between 8 – adults, both male and female and they will be representing the north east in artistic roller skating nationals 7th/8th April.
Next month, for the first time, one of our youngest skaters, Jazzmyn Loring (8) will be competing in the British Championships held at Haywards Heath. Jazzmyn started skating just before her 5th birthday and trains with the club at Sunnydale Leisure Centre in Shildon She will be taking part in the tots dance event at The Dolphin Centre in Haywards Heath Saturday 12th May.
