Sing With Shanaya Summer School ran Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th August with 13 highly excited, enthusiastic children aged from 5 to 11 years of age.
The children were from Hurworth, Darlington and Newton Aycliffe schools and St Clare’s Church was the perfect venue for the performance. The venue, stage and lighting were great and along with my sound system we had a professional set up.
On day one we all met one another and we had thirteen apprehensive individuals! By home time it was evident we had thirteen relaxed and happy children, listening, learning and having so much fun.
However, we all went home shattered, what a good first day.
Day two – Let’s get the show on the road. Not only did we have superstars in the making, friendships developing and budding romances.
We also had an extra member of staff, thank you Suzanne . . . what a busy day curtain pulling and Mum always tells me practice makes perfect and boy did the children practice and they succeeded.
With renditions of “I’m Happy”, “This Is Me” and “Roar”, a job well done in such a short time – impressive.
During “This Is Me” a famous face was spotted taking photos at the back of the hall “the man from the newspaper”, big smiles all round, the children are now officially famous!
Ava, Cole, Declan, Evie, Isabel, Jack, Kya, Marnie, Megan, Melissa, Olivia, Romany and Will each sporting their designed summer school T-shirts which were fabulous, the three winners were Evie with a bright summer theme; Olivia with a sparkly microphone and lots of twinkle and Declan sporting the famous red X and the words of my single released shortly after the show “Say Something”.
Thank you to each and every Mum, Dad, Granny and Grandad and child, you made my summer holiday, in fact when everyone left I had a few tears.
I didn’t want it all to end, I’m sure the children didn’t either, you were fabulous, thanks a million.
But we are going to have another “Sing with Shanaya Christmas Party” followed by a Christmas Singalong.
The raffle raised £105 for St. Teresa’s, thanks to all for your generosity.
