A North East shredding business is undergoing significant expansion and extending its services across the UK, thanks to surpassing last year’s turnover figures in the first four months of its financial year.
The Shred Centre, a family business with over 20 years of industry experience, recently more than quadrupled its site, from 1500 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft., with new premises in Spennymoor.
The workforce, which began as husband and wife team, Patrick and Natalie Stephens in 2012, has recently expanded with two new members of warehouse staff. A further new Admin Assistant and Driver are to be recruited by the end of the year, taking the workforce to nine.
The Company has also doubled its vehicle fleet from three to six, so it can continue to increase services around the North East, Yorkshire, North West and the Midlands.
Patrick said: “I’m very excited for the future of the Company and I hope that we can continue the trend we’ve started of expanding every year.
“We’re not just a Company that offers paper shredding anymore. We now have the facility to destroy data, in all forms including media disks, hard drives, mobile phones and branded clothing”
“We are fully accredited and certified to EN15713 the European Standard for Information Destruction, and offer business owners what they need to make sure their data is 100% protected.”
With the world of data storage quickly changing as technology does, shredding paper is no longer the only secure way to dispose of information. Demands have meant that The Shred Centre now offers a hard drive shredding service.
Patrick continued: “We’re in an information age and technology holds a lot of confidential data. Data protection is at the forefront of most business owners’ minds, so we’re glad that we can now offer further peace of mind and securely dispose of electronically stored information.
“We’re expecting the growing use of technology will bring an even higher demand for our services and we’ll continue to expand across the UK!”
Through industry experience, reputation and accreditations (ISO9001, 18001 and 14001), The Shred Centre has built up a selection of regular clients. This includes DeepOcean, an integrated provider of safe, innovation services and technologies for the subsea industry, that was drawn to the Company for its secure shredding services five years ago.
David Tighe from Deep Ocean said: “We have worked with The Shred Centre for five years and we have been very pleased with the service provided. They provide us with a clear audit trail and certificates of destruction for shredding of our paper and non-paper items when we have them destroyed. We can highly recommend The Shred Centre to all businesses who need a secure shredding service.”
