Shine Children’s Community Choir had a very busy Christmas time. It began with singing at the Community Christmas Light Switch-on at the end of November. It was lovely to see so many people there, joining in and creating a great atmosphere. We then had the pleasure of joining our friends, the MAD choir, in singing for our Mayor, Carl Robinson, and other civic dignitaries at the Civic Carol Service held in St. Clare’s Church – another wonderful turnout from choir members. We then had our show weekend – great excitement as we performed ‘It’s a Miracle’ to a packed hall for both Saturday and Sunday performances.
A truly amazing cast sang their hearts out about the miracle of Jesus’ birth, what it meant then and what it continues to mean now. Thank you to Councillor Jim Atkinson for his donation to this. Next was our Care Home Carol Sing Mission Tour. Singing around our towns care homes, always very special to give sunshine and joy, a memorable day for us all. This year we were lucky enough to be funded by a County Fun and Food Grant, so, we could give the choir members a healthy breakfast before we set off, snacks along the way and shared a jacket potato tea to end.
Thank you to our marvellous friends Community Spirit and J&C Coaches for helping transport us around the town. We even sang on the buses going from home to home.
Not finished yet – we partied away at the Christmas Disco as VIP guests as we had our own space and were well looked after by the Community Spirit team, we even had a visit from Santa and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
