Spectrum Roller Skating Club based at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon were overwhelmed when they received a surprise visit from Shildon Mayor Shirley Quinn on Thursday 31st August to visit Spectrum’s final summer holiday Roller Boot Camp. Spectrum have been training throughout the summer months for their upcoming competitions at Bolton and Great Yarmouth. The Mayor congratulated the club including Aycliffe skaters in person for their success at the recent Cardiff competition where the team came back with 10 medals. The skaters gave demonstrations of their competition routines and talked about why they love to roller skate. Shirley said, “All the young people were lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration and routines. Keep up the good work. You are all fab!” “It was fantastic to have a visitor and a great experience for the children who love to perform for an audience. It was wonderful for their hard work to be acknowledged.
