Can we say a very big thank you to Aycliffe Council for providing us with a really great day out on the Senior Citizens’ Outing to Hexham.  We were picked up on time from Aycliffe Village by Lee’s Executive Coaches.  Good start and free WiFi so we were able to send photos direct to friends and family in Switzerland.  No sooner were we on the coach, we had a good hour’s stop at Boundary Mill where it was full of goodies for those who enjoy a bargain or two!  Our onward journey was to Langley Castle set in magnificent grounds with a peacock or two to add to the ambiance.  We were served a 3 course lunch with coffee.  The dining room was sumptuous and the staff were very attentive.  Next lap, onwards to Hexham where we spent a couple of hours taking in the sites, the shops and cafes.  4pm prompt we headed for the Derwent Manor Hotel, yet another superb location with stunning views where we were served tea/coffee and biscuits.  We then headed home and were dropped on our doorstep at Aycliffe Village at around 6pm.
Our guide for the day had a great sense of humour and handed round sweeties and we even had a prize draw – I won!  A box of chocolates!  The driver was excellent and together with the guide they made a good team.
So, thank you so much for our first ever Senior Citizens’ Outing.  We will certainly be going again next year and the added bonus is IT’S FREE to over 60s!
