An on-going project to rebuild a G5 Steam Engine is making slow but great progress with thousands of £££’s donated by railway enthusiasts all over the country.
The first engine was built in 1895 and 110 were produced at Darlington Shops and put into service until steam was replaced with diesel and electric in the 60’s.
The engine is being built at Hackworth Industrial Estate in Shildon and can be viewed on the first Saturday of each month from 10am – 12 noon.
Donations are required and more information can be obtained by visiting: wwwG5loco.co.uk
