Sedgefield Water Polo Club sent a young and inexperienced team to the Manchester Development tournament on Saturday 9th July, with many members of the team excited to be playing their first ever tournament.
The aim of the tournament was to allow children to develop their game awareness whilst having fun and competing against other clubs from across the North, including Manchester, Sheffield and Radcliffe; some of whom entered two teams each into the tournament. The team played 5 matches and came away in a very well deserved 6th place, having won their match against Radcliffe Boys and narrowly losing to Radcliffe Girls.
During the course of the day, the team worked hard, putting all the things they’d learnt in training into practice in a real match situation in deep water. Their team spirit and attitude towards the games was outstanding, with the coaching team commenting on how proud they were of everyone for taking part. The smiles on the childrens faces throughout the day made the drive over to Manchester, on a hot summer day, worth it! The Club would like to thank the coaching team and the parents for their support on the day.
In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, the club now offer a beginner session on a Saturday afternoon for those wishing to try this fun and exciting sport. All sessions need to be booked in advance so please check our website for further info and joining instructions. Contact us: 07579 030 598 / sedgefieldwp@hotmail.com
