Sedgefield Racecourse will be celebrating 90 years as a limited company on Thursday 4th May. The year has already seen some great investments in to the racecourse in aid of its 90th anniversary including the new Bistro Café 1927, an increase in prize money and the ongoing refurbishment of the new winner’s suite.
Jill Williamson, Executive Director of Sedgefield Racecourse said; “The impact of this investment is proving extremely popular within the local economy. We are now able to employ more local’s into the business as well as providing a much needed retail offering within the course on racedays and car boot days at cost effective prices. I am really looking forward to making further use of the facilities in the summer once racing finishes instead of closing the facilities.”
To celebrate the racecourse will be offering the local community 1927 free tickets to be claimed, these can be claimed by texting SEDGEFIELD to 60777, emailing info@sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk or calling the office on 01740 621925. An Afternoon Tea package including hospitality admission, reserved table, racecard and afternoon tea is also available for only £19.27, reduced from £30 and tickets are selling fast.
The evening gets started at 4.30pm with the first race at 5.30pm and will include seven live races including after racing entertainment from X-Factors Michael Rice and Soul Songs from Ashley Tweddle. The event will also be supporting Bringing Back a Smile Charity; a charity formed by Hartlepool fundraiser of the year 2016, Kevin Hill. The aim of the charity is to help adults and children with life threatening illnesses, to be able to spend time away with their loved ones by providing travel expenses and accommodation whilst undergoing treatments. The charity believes in bringing surprises to people going through bad times and attempt to bring back a smile in times of need.
