Monday 19th to Friday 23rd May was ARMSS (Aycliffe Road Management & School Safety) Action Week, a number of Schools were involved in highlighting the problems they encountered morning and afternoon regarding pupils’ safety outside and near their schools.
Ron Hogg, Police & Crime Commissioner visited four out of the five schools that were mainly involved in the action week to experience for himself the problems the schools have.
Greenfield Community Arts College; SPEEDING,
Byerley Park Primary School; SPEEDING & PARKING,
Aycliffe Village Primary School; PARKING,
Sugar Hill Primary School: PARKING,
Vane Road Primary School; PARKING.
Pupils at each school were involved in highlighting the problems, as well as Police Officers, Police & Community Support Offices and Parking Wardens were in attendance to offer advice to drivers.
Vane Road Primary School, held a competition for the pupils to design a road saftey posters, the winners poster was displayed on the school fence, 2nd & 3rd placed posters being handed out as leaflets to drivers and parents. Sugar Hill Primary School, made Scarecrows, which were displayed outside the school.
The Chairman, Vice Chair & Secretary of ARMSS, would like to thank the schools who were involved, especially the pupils, teachers and staff, also Ron Hogg, The Police Offices, Police & Community Support Offices and Parking Wardens who come to the schools.
