Sugar Hill School wish to install safety barriers outside the school gates to safeguard children from heavy traffic in the area especially at school opening and closing times when parents use cars to drop off and collect their children.

School Governor and Town Councillor Paul Kjenstad has launched an appeal to purchase the steel barriers as the County Council have no money, admitting it could be “many tens of years” before they could fund the project.

They have submitted a cost for doing the work which amounts to £6,577, leaving the problem of finding the cash to the school.

Paul is taking steps to raise the money and Honest John has already offered to help. Anyone else prepared to contribute should contact Paul on 494698.
