Sugar Hill Primary School pupils have been actively involved in lessons and whole school assemblies linked with Remembrance Sunday.
Mini Police and Rota Kids joined pupils who attend after school organisations to show their ultimate respect in the parade. Mrs Pickersgill from Rotary Newton Aycliffe, joined Mrs Legge, Deputy Headteacher, pupils and parents at what has become an important event in the school calendar.
On Monday 11th November pupils who marched on Sunday joined Mrs O’Rourke, Head Teacher and Year 6 Head Boy, Adam, Head Girl Megan, Deputy Head Boy Kian and Deputy Head Girl Erin, to lay a poppy wreath on the school’s very own Aycliffe Angel Memorial.
All children, staff and visitors participated in a two minutes silence.
Mrs Legge commented, “The importance of remembering those who pay the ultimate sacrifice can never be forgotten. We are so proud of the children at Sugar Hill and how they demonstrate respect for others. Our Nursery children visited our Aycliffe Angel on Remembrance Day demonstrating that children as young as three years old learn the value of respect”.
