The Steering Group to progress the formation of a scheme to co-ordinate aid for needy people in Great Aycliffe have held their first two meetings.
In a very useful exchange of ideas and information tahe group have decided to continue in its aim to bring all the partners together to share resources and expertise to ensure anyone who needs assistance receives help.
Already, even before the new organisation is constituted, people are talking to each other and finding they have common aims and are proving that by working together more people will be reached.
In addition to providing basic needs in food, household goods, furniture, white goods etc the group wish to bring all welfare agencies under the same umbrella in order that people can be referred to the right persons to deliver the help required.
The group decided the name of the partnership would be Great Aycliffe Community Aid and future meetings would set the agenda to agree a “Memorandum of Understanding” to be adopted byt the partners. The date of the inauguration will be announced when all the details of the workings of GACA are acdeptable by each partner, but everyone agreed the sooner it was up and running the better as the numbers of people in need is increasing.
