Dear Sir,
Regarding the letter in Newton News w/e 20th on further savings having to be made by D.C.C. I am of the opinion that a good start in saving money would be to dispose of PCSO’s who, as far as I can see, are just a uniform walking the streets.
They have no authority, so what’s the point in employing them? To me it is just an expensive imitation Policeman, costing £19,000 per year each, walking the streets.
I cannot even say, they look good, because none of them seem to ever press their uniforms, or polish shoes. Name & address supplied
Editor: I am sure there will be many who come to the defence of PCSO’s who perform well in this town. Hopefully DCC do not look at the Police budget to save money.
