Dear Sir,
Although I was correct to state that a line had been connected from Cabinet 23 to Ryder Court, the subsequent news has been hugely disappointing. Fourteen houses are still unconnected to the new line, and no residents can receive the superfast service because Cabinet 23 has no spare ports.
I have contacted BT requesting a prompt resolution of these problems, but have had no response to date. I recommend residents to contact Digital Durham at the Education Development Centre, Enterprise Way, Spennymoor, DL16 6YP.
Cllr John D Clare
FROM BT
A BT spokesperson said: “We are currently trialling a new solution to increase capacity on fibre cabinets where demand for services outstrips the number of available connections. This trial is due to conclude in February and, if successful, we believe this solution could work in Aycliffe. In the meantime we are still reviewing other options and will do all we can to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience this is causing to those people in Aycliffe currently unable to upgrade to a fibre broadband service.”
